Scientific name: Scheffleraoctophylla

English name: IvyTree

Section Name: Five Plus Branch

Alias: Duck feet

Morphological characteristics:

Evergreen shrubs or small trees. Branchlets densely stellate when young. Palmate compound leaves alternate, leaflets 6-11, elliptic or obovate-elliptic, entire. Panicles terminal, stellate pubescent, flowers white, aromatic. Berry spherical. Fruit period from December to January.

Origin: Schefflera native to China

Growth habits:

The optimum growth temperature of Schefflera chinensis is 16-27°C. It is 21 to 27°C from March to September and 16 to 21°C from September to March. It can still grow normally under high temperature above 30°C. Winter temperature is not lower than 5°C. If the temperature is below 0°C, the plants will be frozen and defoliation will occur. However, if the stems are in good condition, new leaves will be regenerated in the spring of the following year.

Schisandra chinensis is afraid of dryness. In the case of high humidity and adequate soil moisture, the stems and leaves flourish. However, too much water can cause waterlogging and cause rot. If there is water shortage in pots and soils or when it is dry in a long time, defoliation will occur. Schefflera has some adaptability to temporary drought and dry air.

The Schefflera japonica has a wide range of adaptation to light and can grow in full sunlight, half-day or half-day conditions. However, the intensity of light has a certain relationship with the leaf color. When the light intensity, the leaf color tends to be shallow, and when the light is half shade, the leaf color is dark green. In the bright light, the color of the variegated species is more vivid.

The soil is suitable for fertile, loose and well-drained sandy loam. Potted soil mix of peat soil, humus soil and coarse sand.

Value:

Schefflera oleifera has evergreen, bright foliage, suitable for potted plants, and can also be planted in the garden.
