In particular, the promotion and application of intensive pig farms have increasingly shown that it is reducing the cost of raising boars. Improve sow fertility, reduce the spread of disease, increase the rate of improved seed use, and improve the quality of improved varieties. Most of the individual pig farmers now also grope for simple artificial insemination, but there are problems with poor fertilization and low sow pregnancy rates. Analysis of the reasons for this is mainly due to the lack of specification in the operation process. The following is a brief introduction to the three key issues in pig artificial insemination technology for your reference.

1, identification of sows estrus

1 The trial boar should choose mature boars (at least 12 months of age) with slow action, strong saliva, and good sexual desire. Do not mix with the sows at all times so as to avoid insensitivity to the estrus scent and delays. Normal breeding.

2 When checking the situation, it is necessary to rely on all signs of heat (such as trying to climb across other sows or boars; other sows or boars to climb; standing still, ears erect; vaginal mucosa cyanosis, swelling; Some people even have chasing reactions; loss of appetite or not eating, etc.) should not be based on only a few symptoms to determine whether the sow is estrus.

3 Normal estrus after weaning (within 7 days after weaning) and obvious "static reflexes" use the trial boars to identify estrus in the estrus identification method in the channel.

4 For gilts, return sows, sows with unstable estrus, and sows with more than 7 days of estrus after weaning, it is best to use bred estrus identification methods.

5 When the boar is released, the estrus identification should be performed immediately. From the end of the identification period to the time before insemination, the sows should try not to contact with the boar. In particular, nose-to-nose contact should not be allowed, so as to avoid insemination. The pig lost interest in the boar.

2, control the timing of insemination

Timely insemination problem is the key and difficult point in artificial insemination technology. The data showed that the ovulation time of the estrus sow is about 40 hours after the sow is accepted and the mating time is 10 hours before ovulation, that is, the insemination time should be about 30 hours after receiving the boar. It has also been reported that the sow fertilization rate is relatively high when the sows are inseminated 24–26 hours after they receive a boar.

However, the duration of estrus and ovulation of weaned sows are not exactly the same. The earlier estrus symptoms occur after weaning, the longer the estrus duration, and the longer the estrus time from estrus to ovulation. Conversely, the later the occurrence of estrus symptoms after weaning, estrus The shorter the duration, the shorter the time from estrus to ovulation.

Therefore, it is recommended that sows with estrous within 6 days of weaning should be given insemination for 8 to 12 hours after standing reflexes (or receiving boar crossovers); gilts and estrus should be used for more than 7 days after weaning. Sows, returning sows, inseminated immediately after emergence of standing reflex (or receiving boar crossovers). As for the determination of the frequency of insemination, according to different sows treated separately, if the sow is still relatively stable in the third insemination, you can lose three times; if the third instability is lost only two times.

However, if the sow is estrus 1 or 2 days after weaning, or is estrus 7 days or more later, the farrowing rate is usually low. It is recommended that the sows be escorted one estrus after one day or two days after weaning. For sows who are oestrus only 7 days or more after weaning, consideration should also be given to breeding during the next estrus.

3, correct artificial insemination

1 The difference in insemination performance between different insemination workers is very different. Insomniats with strong work ethic, high technical level, and patience should be selected for insemination.

2 During insemination, first wash the sow's vulva with its 0.1% potassium permanganate solution and its surroundings, and flush it twice with clean water to ensure that the sperm is not contaminated during the insemination.

3 After the cleaning is completed, the boar shall be rushed. Once the boar has arrived in front of the estrus sow, insemination should be performed immediately. When inseminating, the boar is fixed between 3-5 positioning columns, and the position of the boars is adjusted after feeding.

4 Insert the insemination hose and pass through the vagina until the wall of the palace cannot continue to insert. Slightly withdraw to leave a gap at the tip. When the vas deferens enters the cervix, it will be blocked, allowing the tube to rotate while passing through the cervix and then connecting with the sperm bottle. The semen in the bottle will be imported into the uterus through the vas deferens.

5 Insemination time should last 3-5 minutes. It is forbidden to squeeze the semen into the uterus and the sows should be naturally sucked. At the same time, the assistant staff can massage the sow's dairy households, ribs or inseminent personnel to ride on the sow's back, which can increase the insemination effect. When inseminating, be sure to keep the environment quiet.

6 Prevent semen backflow after insemination. Sometimes the stimulation of insemination causes the sow to blame, leading to semen backflow. Therefore, the speed of insemination should be modest and moderate to prevent violent actions. For the use of disposable vas deferens, do not rush to pull out the vas deferens after the completion of transfusion. Remove the semen bottle or bag while preventing air from entering. Insert the tail of the vas deferens into the semen bottle or bag that covers the cap. Prevents air from entering and prevents backflow of semen.
