Protect vegetables against snails

In recent years, snails have been severely developed in some vegetable fields. They have scratched the leaves and stems of the host with tooth tongues, forming holes or nicks, and even snapping off seedlings, resulting in lack of seedlings and ridges.

Snails are generally harmed by a large number of activities from April to May and from September to October, and autumn is more important than spring. The snails are hermaphrodites and allogenic mating animals. The mating time is usually dusk, night or rainy days. Spawning takes place about 15 days after mating. Eggs are spawned 4 to 6 times a year, and 150 to 200 eggs are laid each time. 10 to 18 days to hatch. The newly hatched larvae only take the leaves of the crop and leave the epidermis. When they grow up, they often eat holes or nicks in the crop leaves. Its miscellaneous food can harm cruciferous, leguminous, Solanaceae and other vegetables and weeds. The snails are nocturnal. They start their activities and feed after 6 pm, peak at 8 to 11 pm, and gradually reduce their intake after midnight. They stop feeding in the morning and dive into the earth or hidden areas. Snails like dark, moist environment, rainy days or watering can stay up all night activities, feeding. Its comprehensive prevention measures are:

1. Agricultural control. The use of plastic film covering cultivation will help to reduce the damage of snails. It is suitable for dense planting, timely pruning and vine spreading, removing the old leaves at the lower part, and eradicating weeds; timely cultivating after rain or watering, destroying the habitats for snails and spawning places; deep plowing in autumn, Some of the winter snails were exposed to the ground and frozen to death or were eaten by their natural enemies.

2. Artificial trapping. Before sunset, pile the leaves, weeds, and leaves in the field. Place a heap every 3 to 5 meters. Before the sky is bright, open the haystack to capture it.

3. Lime isolation. Spread a lime belt with a width of about 10 centimeters between the ditch, land or vegetable line. Use 5 to 7.5 kilograms of lime per acre to kill the snail that crossed the lime belt.

4. Chemical control. (1) Use 8% chlorhexidine granules or 10% snail enemy granules per acre for 2 kg, mix with appropriate amount of fine soil or fine sand, and spread evenly in the field in the evening. (2) When the snails do not infiltrate into the soil in the early morning, spray with copper sulfate 800 to 1000 times or 1% saline solution, the control effect can reach more than 80%. (3) The snail was found to be infested and timely sprayed with 90% crystal trichlorfon 1500 times.
