Before and after flowering, fruit trees must be protected against pests and diseases

As spring progresses and temperatures gradually rise, fruit trees and insect pests that were dormant during the winter begin to become active again. This period is critical for implementing integrated pest and disease management strategies before and after flowering. It's essential to prevent infestations such as fruit worms and ensure healthy growth of the crop. Before the growing season starts, it's important to clear the orchard of weeds, fallen leaves, and any plant debris that may harbor pests or diseases. Prune diseased, dead, or damaged branches and remove them from the area, then burn or bury them to minimize the risk of pest and disease outbreaks. Applying a 5-degree Bordeaux mixture or a 40% solution of formamide can effectively control rot diseases, suppress the overwintering of red spider mites, and manage powdery mildew, leaf curl insects, and scale insects. A mixture of 150–200 times diluted 45% crystalline lime sulfur or 0.5% lime sulfur combined with 50% 1605 EC at 1000 times dilution can eliminate over 90% of spider mites and powdery mildew in winter buds. This treatment also helps control fungal spores, chafers, and aphids. Spraying 1500 times diluted 50% 1605 or 80% dichlorvos at 1200–1500 times dilution, along with pyrethroid pesticides at 2500–3000 times dilution, has proven effective against leaf-eating pests and rot diseases. After flowering, continue using 0.3–0.5 degree lime sulfur to prevent leaf diseases and spider mites. Spraying 2500–3000 times diluted kung fu or extermination sweep can help control red spider mites and kill leaf-eating insects and their eggs. Within 10–15 days after flowering, applying a 1:4:20 (copper sulfate:lime:water) Bordeaux mixture or spraying 40% carbendazim at 600–800 times dilution can effectively manage defoliation, anthracnose, and brown spot. It’s important to avoid using isocarbohydrate and dichlorvos within one month of fruiting to protect both the environment and the quality of the harvest.
