The orchard has grass
Orchards also need to have grass in different regions. In arid regions, especially in regions with uneven annual precipitation, grass and trees compete particularly hard. Soddy orchards not only consume annual precipitation infiltration, but also continue to use deep soil to effectively store water. The dry layer in the deep soil resulted in a decrease in soil water storage and a loss of regulation of the soil reservoir.
Studies have shown that annual planting of grass in areas with annual precipitation below 550 mm can significantly reduce tree vigor. In areas with rainfall of 500-550 mm, the soil moisture below 3 meters is 0.15-115 % lower than that in the ploughing orchard, and the grass in the orchard promotes further drying of the deep soil.
In the major apple producing counties, especially in some apple eugenic areas in the north, the annual precipitation is very small, and many counties are less than 550 mm. In these counties, it is not suitable for the entire garden to grow grass.
