Cotton should be timely transplanted and rational fertilization

When the cotton seedlings have developed three true leaves and are approximately 30 days old, they should be transplanted promptly. The ideal transplanting period is generally around May 20th. Planting should be done in a reasonable and sparse manner—on hill areas, maintain a spacing of 1 to 1.1 meters between plants, resulting in about 1,300 plants per mu. On flat land, the spacing is typically 1.2 meters, with around 1,200 plants per mu.
After transplanting, it's essential to follow proper management practices such as side planting, supporting the seedlings, combining fertilization with soil pressing, and ensuring that the seedlings are not knocked over. Regular checks should be conducted to identify any missing plants and replace them as needed. Proper fertilization is crucial during this stage.
**Root Watering:** After transplanting, apply 1 package of "Pagoda" brand 88-1 along with 3 kg of urea or 7.5 kg of ammonium bicarbonate per mu.
**Seedling Fertilizer (Miao Fei):** Seven to ten days after transplanting, apply 1 package of "Pagoda" 88-1 combined with 12–15 kg of superphosphate and 3 kg of urea, or 7.5 kg of carbonized ammonium, depending on water conditions for seedling growth.
**Strengthening Seedling Fertilizer (Jianmiao Fei):** About 15 days after transplanting, mix 1 packet of "Pagoda" 88-1 with 6–7 kg of potassium chloride and apply it with water. Adjust nitrogen fertilizer based on seedling condition. This helps promote strong root development, thick stems, and dense foliage, laying a solid foundation for healthy growth.
**Bud Fertilizer:** In mid-to-late June, when the cotton plants enter the bud stage and have more than three fruit branches, apply 50 kg of "Pagoda" brand specialized bud fertilizer per mu. Dig a ditch about 20 cm away from each plant and bury the fertilizer.
**Flower and Peach Fertilizer:** Around mid-July, when about 10% of the plants have started to flower, apply 50–60 kg of "Pagoda" flower and peach fertilizer per mu. Alternatively, use 15 kg of potassium chloride plus 25–30 kg of superphosphate and 50 kg of carbonized ammonium, or 15–20 kg of urea. Apply this when the seedlings are not uniform, and ensure even distribution. If there is drought or heavy rain, the fertilizer can be applied in two separate applications.
**Top Dressing Fertilizer:** In mid-August, spread 7–10 kg of urea evenly over the field, either by wet application or light irrigation. This final fertilizer application supports the plant’s growth during its critical development phase.
