Cotton should be timely transplanted and rational fertilization

When the cotton seedlings reach three true leaves and are about 30 days old, they should be transplanted promptly, ideally between May 15th and May 25th. The planting density depends on the region—hill areas should be spaced 1 to 1.1 meters apart, with approximately 1,300 plants per mu, while flat areas are usually planted 1.2 meters apart, totaling around 1,200 plants per mu. Proper spacing ensures good air circulation and sunlight exposure, which is essential for healthy growth.
After transplanting, it's important to maintain proper seedling management. This includes side-planting, soil firming, and ensuring the seedlings are not knocked over. Regular inspections should be conducted to replace any missing or weak seedlings. Fertilization must be carefully managed at each stage to support optimal development.
Root water application is crucial after transplanting. For each mu, apply one package of "Pagoda" brand 88-1 combined with 3 kg of urea or 7.5 kg of ammonium bicarbonate. This helps the roots establish quickly and strengthens the young plants.
Seven to ten days after transplanting, a "Miao Fei" (seedling fertilizer) should be applied. Mix one package of "Pagoda" 88-1 with 12–15 kg of superphosphate and 3 kg of urea, or 7.5 kg of carbon, and apply it according to the irrigation schedule. This promotes strong root and leaf development.
Approximately 15 days after transplanting, a "Jianmiao Fei" (thinning fertilizer) is needed. Apply one package of "Pagoda" 88-1 mixed with 6–7 kg of potassium chloride. Adjust nitrogen fertilizer based on the seedling condition to ensure sturdy stems and thick foliage, laying a solid foundation for future growth.
In mid to late June, when the cotton plants enter the bud stage and have more than three fruit branches, apply 50 kg of "Pagoda" special bud fertilizer per mu. Dig a small trench about 20 cm away from the plant and bury the fertilizer to promote balanced growth.
During mid-July, when 10% of the plants begin to flower, apply 50–60 kg of "Flower Peach Fertilizer" per mu by digging a ditch. Alternatively, use 15 kg of potassium chloride + 25–30 kg of superphosphate + 50 kg of ammonium bicarbonate, or 15–20 kg of urea. This should be done when the seedlings are still uniform. In case of drought or heavy rain, split the application into two parts for better absorption.
Finally, in mid-August, apply 7–10 kg of urea per mu using either wet spreading or foliar spraying to support the final growth phase and enhance yield potential.
