How to increase the slaughter rate of finishing pigs

Increase the slaughter rate of fattening pigs, that is, increase the pig's daily gain and shorten the fattening cycle, and exchange more pork with a small amount of feed. To this end, we must grasp the following scientific feeding and management measures:

1. Make full use of heterosis. Hybrid pigs obtained from crossbreeding of different breeds have stronger life ability than purebred parents. In the process of growing and finishing, they have good feeding, fast growth, strong disease resistance and short fattening cycle. A large number of experiments confirmed that the use of binary hybrid pigs increased the daily weight gain by 15 to 20% compared to purebred pigs, and that the three-way hybrid pigs increased about 25% compared to purebred pigs. At present, domestically used Changbai and Yorkshire hybrid sows, and then mated with Duroc, Pietrain or Hampshire boars to obtain the best three-way hybrid combination.

2. Early iron supplementation. When piglets are born, they rely on breast milk and need 7 milligrams of iron per day. Piglets only receive 1 milligram of iron from breast milk. During the growth and development of piglets, iron deficiency anaemia often affects the growth rate. Therefore, early iron supplementation must be performed. Normal piglet 2 to 3 days of intramuscular injection of 1 ml of "ferritin", its effect is better.

3. Increase the birth weight and weaning weight of piglets. The piglets were born with a significant number of births, which indicated that the piglets had good growth and development in the fetus. During the subsequent growth process, the pigs were robust, had less illness, were well-fed, had quick weight gain, and were severely weaned. According to tests, pigs with severe weaning weights have been reduced for 1 to 2 months compared with piglets with small weaning weight under the same feeding and management conditions.

4. Provide suitable temperature and humidity environment. The piggery needs to control the temperature and humidity. If the temperature and humidity are too high, the feed intake of the pig will decrease and the daily gain will decrease. If the temperature is too low, the heat energy will be consumed, the feed intake will be high, and the feed payment will be low. Therefore, the suitable temperature range of the pig house should be controlled at 20-30°C for piglets, 15-20°C for pigs, and 50-55% for humidity.

5. Provide enough clean drinking water. Water is an important material for pig growth and development. The amount of water consumed by pigs varies according to body weight, feed, and weather conditions. Generally, the body weight is large. The more dry the feed is, the higher the temperature is and the more water is consumed. The drinking water supplied must be sufficient and clean.

6. Feeding adopts "four changes". That is, the number of feedings, the time of feeding, the amount of feeding, and the feeding standards should be set, and the wet seasoning should be fed to pigs as dry powder. The number of feedings should be determined according to the pig's different growth stages. The piglets are usually fed 5 to 6 times a day, middle pigs 4 to 5 times, and big pigs 3 times. The feeding time should be relatively fixed every day. The amount of feed fed should be balanced each time. Feeding standards, according to the pig's weight and growth stage, the deployment of different diet formula nutrition standards. In the past, feeds should be changed from traditional feeding of wet mixes to water, and feeding dry powders will help the digestion and absorption of pigs and improve feed utilization.

7. Reasonable stocking density. The pig's stocking density should be adjusted according to the size of the pig and different seasons. It is generally appropriate to use 0.8 to 1.0 square meters per pig. Three to four months of age each need to account for 0.6 square meters of pigs, 4 to 6 months of age each hog needs to account for 0.8 square meters, 7 to 8 months of age 1 square meter. Big pigs typically occupy 1.1 to 1.2 square meters per pig in the summer and 0.9 to 1.0 square meters in the winter.

8. Implement the same circle of breeding. Piglets are slaughtered from birth to fattening, and the practice of breeding the same littermates is better than removing the piglets after weaning. Due to the reduction of stress stimuli, the daily weight gain can be increased by 7 to 8%, and the fattening period can be shortened by 20 to 30 days.

9. Implement early castration. Castration can make the piglet calm and meek, increase appetite, and increase growth. The earlier the age of castration, the smaller the impact on the stress of the piglets, which is generally 20 to 25 days of age. It is advisable to increase the daily age of piglets that are weaned after 60 days of age. Weight gain 5% to 6%, shorten the fattening period of 15 to 20 days.

10. Prevent epidemic and deworming in due course. For fattening pigs, we must strictly follow scientific procedures for the prevention and treatment of swine fever, swine erysipelas, and swine pneumonia, and ensure the health of pigs and the high efficiency of swine breeding.
