Agricultural tractors reduce consumption of oil

In an effort to help reduce this year's agricultural production costs, I'd like to share some essential knowledge on selecting the right tractor oil for "machine" households. This guide is designed to assist you in making informed choices and maintaining your equipment efficiently. First, let’s talk about diesel oil selection. Agricultural tractors typically use light diesel, which is categorized by its pour point—commonly 10, 0, -10, -20, and -35. To save on expenses, most areas in Jilin Province only need diesel grades 0 and -20 for daily farming operations. Diesel No. 0 is suitable for summer, while diesel No. -20 is recommended for winter. In other regions, choose the appropriate diesel grade based on local temperature conditions. However, in extremely cold areas, diesel No. 35 may be necessary for winter transportation. Next, it's important to select the correct engine oil. Agricultural diesel engines require diesel engine oil, available in grades 8, 11, and 14. Typically, grade 8 is used in summer, and grade 11 is better suited for winter. Always check the manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure compatibility with your specific engine model. Then there’s gear oil. Gear oil comes in two main types: 20 and 30. In summer, use grade 30, and switch to grade 20 in winter. A critical note here: never substitute gear oil with other lubricants or mix it with diesel or kerosene. Doing so can lower viscosity, reduce lubrication efficiency, and cause excessive wear on gears. Finally, grease (or “butter”) selection should not be one-size-fits-all. Different parts of the diesel engine have different requirements. For components that are exposed to water or moisture and operate at lower temperatures, calcium-based or synthetic calcium grease is ideal. For high-temperature parts, synthetic calcium grease works well. If the part is dry and operates at high temperatures, sodium-based or synthetic sodium grease is a good choice. When operating under heavy load and high temperatures, opt for higher-grade grease. As a general rule, use higher-grade grease in summer and lower-grade grease in winter. By following these guidelines, you can optimize your tractor’s performance, extend its lifespan, and ultimately save money on maintenance and fuel costs. Always refer to your machine’s manual for specific recommendations and adjust accordingly based on your local climate and usage conditions.
