Harvester track use precautions

Proper track tension is essential for optimal performance and longevity. Once the track frame is raised, the gap between the inner side of the track and the center idler wheel should ideally be between 13 to 18 mm. After replacing or disassembling the track and operating it for approximately 20 hours, it's important to check and adjust the tension to ensure it's within the correct range. Over-tightening the track can cause the crawler belt to wear out faster, while under-tensioning may lead to slippage and improper alignment.

Worn drive wheels should be replaced promptly to avoid damage caused by the worn teeth catching on the track’s core iron. This can lead to further mechanical issues and reduce the overall lifespan of the track system.

Exposure to chemicals, oil, seawater, and other corrosive substances can significantly accelerate the aging process of the crawler. To prevent this, clean the track thoroughly with water when it's not in use for an extended period. Avoid direct sunlight and rain after drying, and loosen the track tension to reduce stress on the components. This helps prevent fatigue and maintains the structural integrity of the track.

To minimize unnecessary wear, try to avoid driving on rough surfaces like gravel, rocky roads, or areas with exposed rebar or stones. Also, avoid making sharp turns while moving, as this can cause a wheel to slip off. If a wheel slips, it might strike the track core iron, leading to damage or even breakage of the internal structure.

It is strongly advised against crossing bridges or traveling over uneven terrain, as this can cause the track to lose contact with the wheels partially. This unstable position increases the risk of the track coming off, resulting in damage to the track pattern and potential breakage of the core iron.

When the load roller rotates on the rubber surface, foreign materials such as dry mud or small stones can become lodged in the grooves. This can cause damage to the rubber, a condition often referred to as the "water bug" effect. Over time, this can lead to the exposure of the internal core iron, which worsens with continued use. Therefore, it's crucial to regularly clean any dry mud or debris that accumulates in the load roller grooves to maintain the integrity of the rubber and prevent costly repairs.
